💍 Stronger Together: Jonathan & Anna’s Wedding Prep Journey

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Jonathan & Anna, a Roxbury couple training together with Coach Jade as they prepare to say “I do” later this year. With a shared commitment to getting stronger, fitter, and healthier, they’ve turned their wedding prep into a powerful journey of accountability, growth, and partnership.

Here’s what they had to share about their experience with 4UrLife Movement:

💬 Tell us a bit about yourselves.

Jonathan: I’m 29 and from Roxbury. My father is Haitian and my mother is Jamaican. Most people know that I teach middle school, but many don’t know I have a passion for visual arts.

Anna: I’m a 30-year-old Dominican woman from Roxbury. I have a master’s in social work from Simmons University, and I’m a Libra!

Both: We’ve been together for over 10 years. Even though we’re both from Roxbury and had mutual acquaintances, we actually met as undergrads at Tufts University.

💬 What made you decide to make a change?

Jonathan: My mom has been working with Coach Jade for a while and invited us to join her for classes she even offered to sponsor our fitness journey with 4UrLife Movement. With our wedding coming up and both of us being inactive at the time, it felt like the perfect opportunity to recommit to movement and our health.

💬 Why did you choose to train together?

Anna: Between the encouragement from our mom and our consultation with Coach Jade, I felt supported and understood right away. I knew we’d be in good hands.

Jonathan: I’m deeply invested in both of us being as healthy as possible. Training together helps us support one another and stay accountable. A couple that trains together stays together even longer.

💬 What’s been the most challenging part of your journey?

Anna: Building endurance and pushing past my current limits. There are movements that are completely new to my body and learning them takes patience. It requires unlearning old patterns and being willing to fail before mastering something.

Jonathan: Exercising more frequently. We currently train twice a week with Coach Jade one class and one buddy session, and I’d love for us to consistently add one or two more workouts each week to continue building momentum.

💬 What were your goals when you started?

Both: Our goal was to feel stronger and healthier each week and that’s exactly what’s been happening.

Anna: I also didn’t want to feel intimidated by exercises I hadn’t mastered. I wanted a positive outlook around movement. Coach Jade has helped me trust my body and provided modifications so I can safely push myself while staying in control.

💬 What advice would you give to other couples thinking about starting together?

Both: DO IT. You won’t regret it.

Anna: It’s another way to spend intentional time together. You learn how your partner responds to challenges and what motivates them to push through. That’s powerful.

💬 What’s one thing you’ve learned being part of 4UrLife Movement?

Anna: The importance of consistency and giving yourself grace when trying new things.

Jonathan: I’ve learned that people of different ages, body types, and abilities can all be equally challenged by the same exercise. What matters most is effort, focus, and intention. It’s been incredible training alongside Anna and the 4UrLife community and seeing that in action.

Jonathan & Anna remind us that fitness isn’t just about looking good for a big day, it’s about building strength, resilience, and partnership that lasts far beyond it. 💍💪🏾
