Member Spotlight: Francie Latour’s Strength in Motion

ree

This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Francie Latour, a powerful voice and presence in our community. In our exclusive interview, Francie opens up about her personal journey. Sharing how strength, resilience, and intention have shaped her path inside and outside 4Life Movement.

Her story is one of transformation, both physical and mental, and it reflects everything 4Life Movement stands for: showing up, digging deep, and becoming the best version of yourself. Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or looking for fresh inspiration, Francie’s experience is one you don’t want to miss!

Here's the full interview!

1) Tell us a bit about yourself. What’s one thing most people know about you? What’s something people don’t know about you?

Francie: I'm a mother of three, a writer, and an educator. I love museums and art, and I love traveling. One thing most people know about me is that I'm pretty introverted and nerdy. One thing most people don't know about me is that I'm left-handed.

2) What made you decide to make a change? Was there a turning point or a sudden realization?

Francie: I came to Jade after struggling with changes in my body over a period of time related to menopause -- lack of energy, lack of motivation, and putting on weight. I've worked with trainers two other times in my life; the first time was for a very short-term goal (fitting into a wedding dress) and the second time; I wasn't ready to commit to myself and my health and well-being. This time, being 54 years old and realizing the stakes of getting healthy and staying healthy, I was ready to try again. It was important to me to find the right trainer to embark on the journey with me who could really support and encourage me.

3) What has been the most challenging part of your fitness journey?

Francie: The most challenging part has probably been working around an ongoing knee injury, which impacts my lower body work. Jade has been an amazing, amazing, trainer in finding ways to build my lower body strength safely. I trust her completely to find the balance between protecting my knee, testing out different modifications I can do with this injury, and challenging me as I continue to rehab it.

4) What was your goal when you started and how much have you accomplished since then?

Francie: My goals were to improve my sleep, drink more water, lose weight, and get stronger. I'm feeling really good about the last three. It's taken a lot of hard work, but I am starting to feel stronger, and I can definitely see and feel the difference in my body and my clothes. Still working on the sleep hygiene!

5) What advice/tips can you give to others on their weight loss journey?

Francie: Hmm.... I think maybe to be kind to yourself. We're all trying our best. Years back, when I failed to work out on my own or go for a walk/run when I said I would, I'd go into a shame spiral, shut down, and give up. Now, if I have a plan to do something on my own and it doesn't happen on a particular day, I just let it go and make a plan for the next day. You can't support yourself if you're attacking yourself. Letting go of the self-judgment has been important for me in this journey.
