Here's the full interview!
1) Tell us a bit about yourself. What’s one thing most people know about you? What’s something people don’t know about you?
Most people know that I like to be outdoors! I love riding my bike on a sunny day and walking in the arboretum. People might not know that my mom owned a yoga studio while I was growing up but I didn’t start doing yoga until I was in college.
2) What made you decide to make a change? Was there a turning point or a sudden realization?
While I’ve always been active, I didn’t always feel strong. I learned that many of the aches and pains I felt in my shoulders and knees were due to weak muscles. I started working with Jade to feel stronger and soon could notice a positive difference in how my body felt during activities and in everyday life.
3) Why did you choose 4UrLife Movement(us)?
I knew I needed motivation from a coach and each day I’d pass by 4UrLife on my way to work. I looked it up online and decided to give it a try! I started for strength but I stay for the community, care, and support I get at each class and session. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in and have gained confidence in the strength I’m building.
4) What has been the most challenging part of your fitness journey?
Sometimes the most challenging part is showing up! When my alarm goes off at 6 am on Thursday morning there’s a part of me that wants to stay in bed, but I know I’ll be happier when I’m walking out of morning boost at 7:30.
5) What was your goal when you started and how much have you accomplished since then?
My goal was to build strength. Not only have I built strength, I’ve challenged myself, built resiliency, and made friends along the way.
6) What advice/tips can you give to others who are starting their fitness journey?
Don’t let the fear of not knowing stop you from trying something new. I was always intimidated by traditional gyms and weights but when you find the right community, the gym can bring you joy, confidence and can even be fun!
