5 Ways to Stay Motivated and Healthy in an Unhealthy World

With each passing day, our schedules become more and more hectic. Trying to stay healthy in such an environment can be very challenging and it is very common to feel burnt out at the end of the day with all the work and pressure

So how to make sure you are staying motivated in an unhealthy world? Here are a few motivation techniques that will help in creating healthy habits and staying focused.

  • One step at a time.

Know that habits take time to develop and you need to go one small change at a time. Small things like walking every day for 10 minutes, drinking two more extra glasses of water, avoiding refined carbs, etc will help in achieving your end goal.

  • Have a role model.

Having a role model or someone to look up to when you are down is a great way to keep yourself motivated. Your role model should be someone who inspires you to stay aligned with things that are important to you in a positive manner.

  • Move around a little and sit less.

Working towards fitness is not just about spending 2-3 hours in the gym and then sitting on the couch for the rest of the day. It's the little things that help you build an overall healthy lifestyle, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, including small workouts here and there, taking small walks in between lunch breaks or classes, limiting screen time, etc.

  • Do not keep procrastinating.

Procrastinating is quite easy if you are not motivated. Creating healthy habits isn't a day's work, and requires a lot of discipline. Whenever you feel lazy and think about pushing something to the next day, remind yourself why you wanted to make these changes and what you want to achieve. When you force yourself to work out even in a small way, your body will adapt to the new lifestyle on its own.

  • Celebrate and forgive yourself.

Amidst your fitness goals, do not forget to celebrate your journey each day so that your lifestyle goal does not overpower the little pleasures of everyday life. Also, it's ok to enjoy an extra muffin on a vacation or maybe a second slice of pizza at a party. Do not punish yourself for it by going hungry the next day, but start back on your disciplined routine after that.

It is important to have a healthy relationship with food and understand what your body needs if you want to stay motivated and achieve the goal of a healthy lifestyle.
